The 1968 Belgian Grand Prix: Jackie Stewart, driving a Matra MS10, was leading the race with less than 2 laps remaining… he ran out of fuel and finished in fourth place. He did go onto win the Dutch, German and U.S. Grands Prix that season, but came in second place in the Drivers’ Championship behind Graham Hill. Stewart did win the first of 3 Drivers’ Championships the following year driving for Matra International.
