The Porsche 911 T/R driven by Guy Chasseuil and Claude Ballot-Léna at the 1968 24 Hours of Le Mans. The race, which was typically run in June, had to be delayed until September due to widespread protests, strikes, and civil unrest in France throughout that spring. The number 44 Porsche, entered by French privateer Auguste Veuillet, failed to finish the race due to the engine giving out in the final hour of the race. Auguste Veuillet was the founder of Sonauto, France's first importer of Porsche cars, and one of the drivers credited with Porsche’s first class victory at Le Mans (a Porsche 356 SL Coupe driven by Veuillet and Edmond Mouche at the 1951 24 Hours).
